Assistant Manager Conference Centre - Brisbane Airport Conference Centre

The Brisbane Airport Hotels Group encompasses the Pullman, Novotel and ibis Brisbane Airport Hotels, as well as the Brisbane Airport Conference Centre. With 532 guest rooms, 3 restaurants, Rooftop Bar & Restaurant, Executive Lounge and 12 meeting spaces collectively totalling 1800m2. Located at the Brisbane Airport Domestic Terminal, it is the first accommodation, meeting and event space to be developed in this precinct.

The Brisbane Airport Conference Centre boasts 12 conference and meeting rooms, including a 300 seat pillar-less ballroom, boardrooms, business centre, cloakroom and generous breakout terraces. This Centre will be capable of hosting up to 600 delegates at any one time. 

The Brisbane Airport Conference Centre is currently seeking a motivated and experienced full time Assistant Manager – Conference Centre to join our dynamic and professional team. 

 

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Assisting the Conference Centre Manager with day to day operations of all Conference Rooms.
  • Maintain a constant focus on providing excellent guest experience at all times.
  • Lead, mentor and train the team members, ensuring a fun and energetic working environment.
  • Assist in recruitment and induction of new team members.
  • Ensure that team members are briefed on all specials and standard menu items.
  • Ensure cleaning and maintenance of outlets, work areas, tableware, utensils and other materials and equipment.
  • Handle any escalated guest complaints

 

Who are we looking for?

  • You will ideally have previous experience in a similar role, and are looking to work in a larger operation or a Team Leader ready for their next step.
  • Previous experience within a conference & hotel environment is preferable, however not essential.
  • Flexible to work variable shifts including early starts, weekends and public holidays.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong focus on guest satisfaction.
  • A passion and working knowledge of latest food and wine trends.
  • Hold a valid RSA – essential.

Food and Beverage Manager - Novotel Brisbane Airport

Full-Time Permanent

Brisbane’s first dedicated airport hotel, Novotel Brisbane Airport is the focal point of one of Brisbane’s fast growing precincts, Sky gate. This four and a half star hotel features 157 guest rooms, six meeting rooms, Restaurant & Bar, a rooftop lap pool, gymnasium and sauna.

The successful applicant will report to the General Manager and lead a committed and successful team overseeing the planning, management and operation of the Catalina restaurant & bar, multifunctional event spaces and room service.

Requirements of the role:

·         Drive the management of all outlets to maximize revenue.

·         Assist in departmental forecasting and deliver on financial targets.

·         Control all associated operational costs.

·         Establish short and long term strategic plans for the outlets.

·         Implement all operational standards of procedures, supported with on the job training.

·         In conjunction with the PR and Marketing Department develop promotional campaigns for outlets.

·         Ensure and promote high standard of WH&S in all outlets.

·         Deliver a quality guest experience and food and beverage product.

·         Lead, develop & mentor a small team in F&B service and knowledge.

Experience required for this role:

·         Strong food & beverage background with a minimum of 2-3 Years of industry experience.

·         Previous experience managing restaurant, functions, room service and beverage operations in a hotel environment.

·         Experience using Micros is essential

·         Must have an Approved Managers Licence

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer of the Group you will manage all facets of the Novotel Hotel operation. This is a fantastic opportunity to build, establish & lead a well settled dynamic operation of a very successful hotel.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure long term profitability of the hotel, maximizing revenue and yield opportunities.
  • Provide feedback to Chief Operating Officer on Hotel performance.
  • Attending management and owners meetings as required.
  • Conduct regular analysis on all departments to continuously improve productivity, quality, market competitiveness and service standards.
  • Train, coach and develop the executive management team and develop a detailed succession plan for each department, in consultation with each key executive.
  • Managing and developing relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, guests and clients.
  • Financial accountability for the hotels' performance, run the business as it was your own - P&L's, Room revenue, Budgets, KPI's, monthly reporting. 
  • Strong passion for creating workplace culture - including motivating, training and developing staff.
  • Proven ability to leverage business results and performance across all market segments.

  • Previous experience as a General Manager in a 4.5 star resort/hotel environment.
